October 28, 2007 – The Feast of Christ the King – Pentecost XXII
Today is the great feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ with the commemoration and Last Gospel of Pentecost XXII. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed after the 11:30 AM Mass. Please stay a while after Mass or return sometime this afternoon. You are invited to Christ the King and October Devotions beginning at 4:15 PM, with closing solemn organ Vespers and Benediction at 5:45 PM. Set aside some time to watch with the Great King of Kings.

Literary Meeting
There will be a literary meeting after the 9:00 Mass today in the school office.

Thank You

All Souls Day Envelopes
It’s not too late to turn in your All Souls’ Day envelopes. Place your envelopes in the collection baskets, or hand them to an usher before you leave church today. The envelopes will remain upon the altar all during the month of November.

Lost and Found
There are numerous articles to be claimed in the lost and found department. The table is in the social hall. Unclaimed items will be sent to the mission churches.

Men’s Guard of Honor
Volunteers are needed to keep our Lord company during First Friday all night adorations. Please contact Bernie Brueggeman at 859-485-4416 if you are able to participate in this supreme act of charity for Our Lord.

October Devotions
The month of the Rosary closes on First Friday, All Souls Day, at the 8:00 PM Holy Hour. Join our children for the last few days of this blessed devotion on Monday and Tuesday.

All Hallows Eve – Vigil of All Saints
Tuesday is a traditional day of fast for adults, and of complete abstinence for all. Post a note so you do not forget. The pagan excess which increasingly dominates this night should be expiated by sacrifice. The First Vespers of All Saints with Benediction followed by distribution of Holy Communion are on Wednesday, All Hallows Eve at
2:15 PM.

All Saints Day – A Holy, Holy Day
The great feast of All Saints not only honors those who have “made it” home to Heaven, it also gets us started on the way ourselves. Prayer is always the first step. Join us for an extra prayer or two as we keep this splendid All Saints Day. On Thursday, the early, workers’ Mass, followed by a brief sermon is at 6:30 AM. Morning confessions are at 8:30 AM. The High Mass of the day is sung at 9:00 AM. The October Devotions begin at 5:00 PM with Exposition and Rosary, during which confessions are heard. Benediction is at 5:30, with the day’s last Mass at 5:45 PM. Vespers of the Day and Vespers and compline of the Dead, close our very full and very Holy Day at 7:30 PM.

The intention for the All Night Adoration is: For Our Own Poor Souls in Purgatory and for our soon to be ordained priest, Reverend Mister Marcus Ramolla, and all of our priests.

Toties Quoties
You may gain a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions each time you make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, from noon November 1st until midnight November 2nd–praying six Paters, six Aves, and six Glory Be’s for the “intentions of The Holy Father” (The exaltation of Holy Mother Church, etc.) This wonderful indulgence is applicable only to the poor souls. Avail yourselves of this supreme act of charity.

Time change
Sunday, November 4th Eastern Standard time resumes. Remember to “fall back” and set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed.

All Saints Procession
Our annual All Saints Procession will take place before the 9:00 AM High Mass. Our children are invited to come to church dressed as a saint. Each child should also prepare a few words about his saint’s story. We will assemble in Helfta Hall at 8:50 AM and begin the procession a few minutes later. After we process into church the children may go to be seated with their family for the Mass. After Mass we return to the Hall. Some of the children will give a little presentation on their saints, and all of the children are invited to a little party. Prizes for the best costume in each age level will be awarded. There are no catechism classes. They will resume on Sunday, November 11th.

Upcoming Events
Children’s Rosary/Cemetery Walk
The children of St. Gertrude’s School will make the annual cemetery procession at St. Stephen’s Cemetery on Tuesday, November 6th at 1:00 PM and pray the Rosary for the faithful departed. You are invited to join us. (A plenary indulgence is granted to the poor souls for any prayer for the departed said at any cemetery within the Octave of All Souls.)

Veterans Day / Cemetery Visit
Our annual Rosary for the Faithful departed, sponsored by the Rosary Confraternity, will be on November 11th – Veterens Day – at 3:30 PM. Members of the parish are invited to take part in this beautiful suffrage for the poor souls. We will be visiting St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Hamilton.
Absolution at the Catafalque and Rosary for all of those who have died in all of our wars is at 11:00 AM, Sunday, November 14th.
November 11th is also the Feast of the Patronage of Our Lady, and the opening of our annual devotion of the 12 Sundays of Our Mother of Good Counsel.
