Easter II

April 6, 2008 – Easter II.
Today is the Second Sunday after Easter, also known as Good Shepherd Sunday. The monthly second collection benefits our seminary, which has just moved into its new building. The blessing of religious articles follows all Masses. Come back to Helfta Hall for a delicious spaghetti dinner – $5/adults; $3/children; $20/family – followed at 2:00 PM by the Medieval mystery play The Judgement, presented by the students of St. Gertrude the Great School.

Wednesday: April 9th
We celebrate the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church. After the festive 11:25 AM Mass, you are invited to Helfta Hall for a potluck lunch, as well as for St. Joseph’s Table. Bring some food to share and something (dry or canned goods) to St. Joseph for the poor.

Saturday: April 12
First Holy Communion testing, with a spiritual talk and examination of conscience, and First Confessions will begin at 10:00 AM. All children who wish to participate must be registered in advance with the office, and must bring a copy of their Baptismal certificate. Those getting ready for First Confession need to know all the questions in the First Communion Catechism, especially the Ten Commandments. Testing will be based on the New St. Joseph Catechism.

Next Sunday
Fr. Saavedra will be hearing children’s confessions at 10:30 AM. Set your missal: The Solemnity of St. Joseph (the Third Sunday after Easter) with the commemoration and proper Last Gospel of Easter III, Preface of St. Joseph.
