Pentecost XIII

We had a most pleasant visit last week with Fr. Siordia, Fr. Saavedra and a number of other old friends from here and there. Fr. Saavedra honored his Knights of the Sacred Heart by a special visit and was edified with their good attendance (18 boys) and spirit, as well as by the real assistance offered by the fathers who help in this important apostolate. May God bless this work.

Both visiting priests report well of their apostolates. Fr. Saavedra in Detroit has begun the Fatima Rosary Procession, and is hopeful to restore All Night Adoration, a very powerful devotion for the protection of a parish and all particular needs. (Why not come this Friday night?) We have always found it so. Fr. Siordia continues his apostolate of exorcisms, for which he is particularly endowed by God, and has charitably added the blessing of the sick most afternoons, which always draws a number of needy souls. May Our Lady bless and protect her priests!

Fr. Larrabee seems to be enjoying his first weeks in his first priestly assignment. He has proven especially zealous in visiting the sick, for which I am very grateful, as it is an essential apostolate. Father has returned home to replace Fr. Zapp this weekend, who is going to be with his sister in Colorado, who is ill. Please remember her and all of our sick and all of our many travelling priests, in your prayers.

Alert parishioners will have noticed the work in the sanctuary towards a new Rood Screen. I was pleasantly surprised this winter when Fr. Cekada and Gino approached me with the idea. The new screen will ease the sanctuary flow during ceremonies, and increase visibility, while providing a good position for sanctuary lighting, especially for our webcasting. Our beloved Oberamagau crucifix will again take the central place of honor as the project is completed.

On First Thursday, school opens and we welcome new and returning students, and return to the 11:25 am Mass time. The first day of school is also our day of prayer for priests, and the feast of great St. Pius X. May he, whose statue is now honored in our church, bless all of our endeavors for church and school and all the Church.

God bless you and your family!
