Pentecost XVII

October 1, 2006 – Pentecost XVII – St. Remigius, BC

The Blessing of Religious Articles follows all Masses. Our monthly Second Collection is for our Seminary and Mission Support.

St. Gertrude the Great School is sponsoring their Autumn Bake Sale this morning following all the Masses. Please support our school by buying some of the delicious goodies on sale in Helfta Social Hall.

Enrollment into the Rosary Confraternity follows the 9:00 AM Mass.

The opening of the Month of the Most Holy Rosary is observed with the first of our October Devotions at 1:10 this afternoon. Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament Exposed, with Benediction. Please make the sacrifice to join us.

Alter Christus

The “little church” is in the vestibule this morning. The ushers are collecting alms for the Alter Christus Confraternity to support priests who might not otherwise receive help. Please be generous.

October Devotions

The October Devotions (Rosary, Litany of Loreto, and Prayer to St. Joseph) are recited every school day at 3:10 PM. Every Wednesday the Rosary is recited before the Blessed Sacrament exposed at 3:00 PM, with Benediction and Holy Communion at approximately 3:30 PM. Join our children in prayer!

A Week of Feasts

Join us this week for the beginning of the month of October. This month is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary and the Angels. Monday, October 2nd is the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels. Tuesday, October 3rd is the Feast of the “Little Flower”, St. Therese of the Child Jesus. On Wednesday, October 4th we greet the gentle St. Francis of Assisi. Thursday is First Thursday and we pray for all of our priests. Friday is First Friday. Saturday, October 7th is the beautiful Feast of the Most Holy Rosary and First Saturday, leading us into the Solemnity of the Most Holy Rosary on Sunday. Won’t you find at least once this week to come to an additional Mass? There are so many beautiful feasts to choose from, surely, one will touch your heart and fit your schedule.

Additional Confessions

School confessions will now be heard after school (approx. 3:30 PM) every Tuesday afternoon during the School Year. In addition, Confessions are heard at about 11:15 AM on Friday morning, and 10:45 AM on First Friday.

In your charity…

Albert Daniel Kinnett (parishioner and catechism T.A.) is in need of a ride to church on Sundays from the Dayton area (Wright State University). If you can help, please call him at 513-205-9225.

Next Sunday

Next Sunday is Rosary Sunday. Roses to be blessed and carried in the procession may be purchased before the 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM Masses. The Rosary Confraternity will lead the Outdoor Procession following the 9:00 AM Mass.

All Rosary Confraternity members are invited to attend the High Mass in a body, wear their Rosary medal, and walk in the procession, as well as attend the breakfast afterwards. Rosaries will be blessed (with all indulgences) at all Masses.

The Annual Rosary Confraternity Communion Breakfast will be held after the High Mass and Procession. Mr. Bernard Hall will be our speaker this year, talking about “The Rosary’s Background and the Church’s Prayer: The Divine Office.” Join us for a delightful breakfast after the Procession and an interesting and informative talk and a chance to socialize. Purchase your tickets from the Confraternity members at $7 per person, and $20 per family.

Due to the Procession, Sunday Catechism Classes will be cancelled next week. The children are urged to walk in the Procession.

Vespers at 4:30 PM, followed by October Devotions and Benediction – somebody, please attend – perhaps some of the 5:45 PM congregation will come early for this wonderful opportunity?
