St Gertrude the Great “The Wines of Northern Europe” Wine Tasting

This Saturday, October 21st, we will have our Fall wine tasting. Beginning at 5:30 PM in Helfta hall, the wine tasting will feature wines from Germany, Austria, Bordeaux, Alsace, Champagne and the Rhone Valley. Appetizers will be served with a heavy emphasis on European cheeses served in the cloister (weather permitting) moving indoors for the tasting and dessert/coffee. Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds will go to the support of St. Gertrude the Great School. Attendance is by reservation only. Tickets will be sold after all Masses today, or you may reserve your spot by prepaying at the church office. Payment must be received no later than Thursday, October 19th.

Alter Christus

In September $262.10 was collected from the “little church” for Masses for the sanctification of priests. Five Masses will be offered here for the First Thursday General Intention, and eight further Masses will be offered in the Missions for our priests. In October $120.00 was collected for a total of 6 Masses to be offered in the Mission. Thank you for your generosity.

A blessed opportunity

I am hoping slowly to landscape our grounds and install a series of outdoor shrines and a Way of the Cross. I am looking for one or more donors for the shrine of Our Sorrowful Mother, an outdoor Pieta. $500.00 should cover the statue, the stand, and some shrubs.

Christ the King – 3rd Annual All Saints Procession / All Hallows Eve Party

Sunday, October 29th, the Feast of Christ the King, our annual All Saints Procession for All Hallows Eve will take place before the 9:00 AM High Mass. Our children are invited to come to church dressed as a saint. Each child should also prepare a few words about his saint’s story. We will assemble in Helfta Hall at 8:50 AM and begin the procession a few minutes later. After we process into church the children may go to be seated with their family for Mass. Some of the children will give a little presentation on their saints, and all of the children are invited to a little party. Prizes for the best costume in each age level will be awarded.

There are no catechism classes. They will resume on Sunday, November 5th.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed after the 11:30 AM MAss. Adoration continues all afternoon and concludes with Vespers, October Devotions and Benediction at 4:30 PM.

Next Sunday

Next Sunday is the Fourth Sunday of the month. Confessions will be heard before and during all Masses. Children’s Confessions will be heard at 10:40 AM.
