Pentecost XXIII

November 12, 2006 – Pentecost XXIII

Today is the Second Sunday of the Month. Children’s Confessions are at 10:40 AM this morning.

At 11:00 AM today we observe our Veterans’ Day Absolution Service and Rosary for all those who have died in our various wars.

Our annual Rosary for the Faithful Departed, sponsored by the Rosary Confraternity, is this afternoon at 3:30 PM in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. All members of the parish are invited to take part in this beautiful suffrage for the poor souls.

Boys’ and Girls’ Groups

Due to the ordination this week in Detroit, there is no meeting this week for the Knights of the Sacred Heart and the St. Angela Merici Girls’ Group.

St. Albert the Great and St. Gertrude the Great

Due to the ordination taking place this Wednesday in Detroit, there will be NO MASSES offered at St. Gertrude on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thanksgiving

Join us for a special holiday Mass with patriotic music on Thursday, November 23rd, at 9:00 AM. Holy Mass is the best way to give thanks! Let’s joyfully and thankfully stress the religious character of this holiday. The abstinence is traditionally dispensed on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and meat may be taken.

Arts and Crafts

If you’re a crafty kind of person, perhaps you would like to help make a success out of our Sunday, December 17th, Christmas Craft Sale. You are welcome to drop off items at the church office, or call Connie Kamphaus, 513-892-1469, for more information. Thank you so much for your help, time and creativity.

We are planning a Christmas bake sale for the same Sunday morning. Please mark your calendar, and plan on sharing some of your Christmas goodies with us to make this a great fundraising booster.

Vigilantes NOT needed

Please do not take it upon yourself to correct or castigate someone you believe to be improperly dressed at church. You are welcome to share your concerns with me. For the rest, we have ushers to maintain order.

This kind of comment may be well meant, but it is devastatingly embarrassing. Recently a visitor was set upon this way, and has vowed never to return!

Be kind and welcoming to all. When it comes to modesty, most women are self-policing, once they realize what other ladies are wearing. If not, a discreet word to the pastor will suffice.

Next Sunday

Next Sunday is the Third Sunday of the Month. The Blessing of Expectant Mothers follows the Low Masses.

Set your Missal

November 19th. Low Masses: Pentecost XXIV (Epiphany VI) with the commemorations of St. Elizabeth, St. Gertrude the Great, St. Pontianus. Preface : Trinity.

All parishioners are invited to a Reception in Helfta Hall in honor of the Solemnity of St. Gertrude and the newly ordained Fr. Disposito following the High Mass. Father Disposito will give his first Priestly Blessing after Mass.

Vespers and Benediction are at 4:45 PM.
