Pentecost XX

October 14, 2007 – Pentecost XX – St. Callistus I, PM
Second Sunday of the Month – Catechism classes resume today at 10:30 AM. The Fall bake sale to support our school will be held today in the social hall. Be sure to stop by and tickle your taste buds with delectable treats baked by fellow parishioners.

Thank You
Six Alter Christus stipends were collected on Rosary Sunday from the “little church” donations. These Masses will be offered on behalf of our priests. Thank you very much for your generosity.

Servers Needed
A serving volunteer or two is needed to serve the 5:45 PM Mass on some Sundays when we have early vespers. Please speak with Bishop Dolan if you are able to commit to this endeavor. Remember that many graces are obtained by serving at Our Lord’s altar during Holy Mass.

All Souls Day Envelopes
Please remember to fill out your Our Souls Day envelopes and turn them in with your Sunday collection or to the office. Envelopes may be found in the pews. All Souls Day is November 2nd this year which also happens to be First Friday.

Sewing instructor(s) Needed

End of Confession Formula
From time to time it becomes necessary to print a reminder about the proper formula for the end of a confession. To let the priest know that you have completed your confession, the following words must be said, “For these and all of the sins of my past life, especially… (mention a sin of your past life for which you are particularly sorry), I am truly sorry.” Conclude your confession with a proper Act of Contrition prayer per the instructions of the priest. Parents, please teach this formula to your children in addition to the following Act of Contrition prayer. “Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended thee. I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because they offend thee my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.”

Holy Helpers Needed
We are once again sending out the call for volunteers to assist with church cleaning, decorating and light maintenance. This is especially important as we are now into our busy fall season of feasts. Please contact Katie Bischak at 513-251-3895 if you can spare even just one hour. Something is better than nothing at all. Volunteer time may be arranged according to your schedule during the week or on Saturdays. Men, you are especially needed to help carry and/or clean the heavier items. Thank you in advance for your charity.
