Pentecost XXIII

November 4th, 2007 – Pentecost XXIII – St. Charles Borromeo, BpC – Ss Vitalis & Agricola, Mm – Our Lady of Suffrage
Today is the first Sunday of the month. The Blessing of Religious Articles follows all the Masses. The special second collection is for our seminary. Catechism classes are cancelled today due to the All Saints presentations in Helfta Hall following the 9:00 Mass.

Saturday Masses
Thank you for letting us know your time preferences! I hope you will find our new winter schedule a convenience. When there are two priests here, Masses will be at 7:30 and 8:00 AM. On First Saturday, Masses will continue at 6:30 and 8:00 AM., with Rosary, devotions, and Benediction in between. Be sure always to consult the bulletin each week, as times may change due to unforseen circumstances. Most of all, do make the effort to honor Our Lady on Her day of the week by hearing Holy Mass. Our earlier schedule, by the way, allows our devoted sacristy workers to start and thus finish, an extra hour early. See you in church!

Ordination News
On November 16, The Reverend Mister Marcus Ramolla will be ordained to the priesthood at St. Gertrude the Great at 10:00 AM. A catered reception will follow in Helfta Hall. Please RSVP using the sign-up sheet located in the vestibule or contact the church office. We are seeking volunteers to help with decorating the night before, to coordinate final touches in the hall on friday and to facilitate clean up after the celebration. Any time that can be spared is greatly appreciated.

Dress Code Rules
Just a brief reiteration of the dress code rules: Ladies please no pants at Mass, this includes culottes. Young ladies it is prudent to secure veils on your heads using a hair clip or pin. This prevents uneccessary fidgeting and keeps the head covered during the entirety of Mass. Men and young men, please wear a dress shirt and tie with a blazer or jacket. No sport shoes of any type.

This Week:
Children’s Rosary/Cemetery Walk
The children of St. Gertrude’s School will make the annual cemetery procession at St. Stephen’s Cemetery on Tuesday, November 6th at 1:00 PM and pray the Rosary for the faithful departed. You are invited to join us. (A plenary indulgence is granted to the poor souls for any prayer for the departed said at any cemetery within the Octave of All Souls.)

Next Sunday
Next Sunday is Pentecost XXIV and Veterans Day. Absolution at the Catafalque and Rosary for all those who have died in all of our wars are at 11:00 AM. Our annual Rosary Procession for the Faithful departed, sponsored by the Rosary Confraternity, will be at 3:30 PM. Members of the parish are invited to take part in this beautiful suffrage for the poor souls. We will be visiting St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Hamilton. It is also the Feast of the Patronage of Our Lady, and the opening of our annual devotion of the 12 Sundays of Our Mother of Good Counsel. Catechism classes resume at their regularly scheduled time.

Set your missal: Pentecost XXIV [Epiphany V], Commemoration of St. Martin & St. Mennas, Preface of Trinity.
