Lent IV, Laetare Sunday

March 2, 2008 – Lent IV – Laetare
Today is Rose or Laetare Sunday, the Fourth Sunday of Lent. The Rose vestments, flowers and organ are emblematic of joy at the closeness of Easter. Fr. Cekada and Fr. Saavedra will hear confessions today before and during the morning Masses. This Sunday is also the First Sunday of the Month. Our Special Second Collection is for: Seminary Support. The Blessing of Religious Articles follows all Masses.

Alter Christus
The “little church” is in the vestibule this morning. The ushers are collecting alms for the Alter Christus Confraternity to support priests who might not otherwise receive help. Please be generous.

Sorrowful Mother Novena
We are now in the seventh week of our Novena to the Sorrowful Mother with the Blessing of the Sick. This devotion takes place every Friday evening after the Stations of the Cross and Sermon. Call or mail in to the office the first names of those who are sick, and those for whom you would like us to pray.

First Friday
The intention of our All Night Adoration for the First Friday in Lent is: In Reparation to the Sacred Heart of the Holy Child Jesus, Doctor of the Sick, for the healing of both soul and body for all the members of our parish. Adoration Continues All Night.

Stations In Lent
At 3:00 PM on Wednesday, we offer the traditional Children’s Stations of the Cross and Holy Communion.

Requiescat in Pace
Our prayers and sympathy are extended to the family and friends of Mrs. Rita Brueggemann who died this past Wednesday morning and was buried from this church yesterday. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her, may she rest in peace. Amen.

Lenten Reading
As is our custom, all children are reminded to be reading a good book this Lent. During Easter, hand in your book report to Bishop Dolan. Adults, are welcome to do the same.

Volunteers Needed!!!
Saturday, March 8th: PLEASE NOTE: Next Saturday is the day we cover all the statues and pictures in church. We need a good crew of volunteers – both men and women – to get the job done. The covers will be ironed, marked and ready for hanging.
