Solemnity of Saints Peter & Paul

zelusdomustuaeBishop’s Corner

Today we honor the solemnity of the great saints of the Catholic Church, Ss. Peter and Paul, while continuing to pray for the conversion of our own dear land. I hope your holiday weekend is a safe and pleasant one, and that you’ve saved some room for prayer. May July’s devotions – the Precious Blood and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in particular inspire you.

Thank you for your good wishes and prayers for Fr. Larrabee, our new priest, as well as for all of the priests who gathered in Detroit for the happy event of an ordination. Fr. Federico Palma returned with us after the ordination, and will be here during the month of July, to help cover for Fr. Cekada and myself, who leave on vacation this week, as well as for Fr. Ramolla who is visiting Germany later this month. Please introduce yourself to Fr. Palma, and do invite him for a meal. He would be happy to bless your home or enthrone the Sacred Heart there. Keep him busy!

If possible, it is good for everyone to get a little rest and a change of scene in summer. If this is in your plans, be assured of our prayers for a safe trip and a good time. If a vacation is not in your schedule, remember there are many ways to rest a bit, and refresh yourself even at home, and especially at church. I hope you find a way, and that all of us, at home or away, find some quiet time for God and our immortal soul during these days of summer.

God bless you, and St. Christopher protect you as well.
