Pentecost X

zelusdomustuaeBishop’s Corner

We have had an interesting “growth spurts” these last six weeks since the Feast of the Precious Blood, July 1, saw the ordination of a new priest, Fr. Larrabee to offer that Precious Blood daily in the Holy Mass. Our new priest is with us now, and we will honor his ordination with a “First” Solemn High Mass on the Assumption.

Since summer began, eight babies have been reborn in Holy Baptism: an unusually high, and happy number. New adults have moved here, specifically to join St. Gertrude. We welcome Joe and Sheila Praschak of Virginia, as well as Richard and Gloria Zblicki of New York. We’re happy you’re with us!

At the same time the Droleskeys, those intrepid apostles of Christ the King, have resumed their life on the road. Kathy Ganley is moving with Seth and Sam to Washington D.C. this month. Goodbye, good friends.

Friday July 31st marked Bill Bendel’s first anniversary of death. In his honor, I asked Eldon to plant a dahlia patch next to our Lourdes Grotto. Already it is in bloom, a lovely way to remember Bill and his family.

Please consult the flier in today’s bulletin for the special events for Our Lady and our new priest, Thursday August 13th through Saturday August 15th. Amongst the happy events of this week are the Fatima Rosary Procession, and the traditional Holy Day Blessing of the Flowers and Procession with children on Saturday. First the beautiful Lourdes Grotto will be dedicated in memory of Bernie and Rita Brueggemann, and blessed. After Fr. Larrabee’s “First” Solemn Mass, we are offering a family breakfast reception in his honor. Please plan to be with us for these beautiful days!

May God continue to bless St. Gertrude the Great, and you for making her so!
