Helfta Hall is ringing with the merry voices of many happy day campers as I write this, on the first day of our girls’ camp. I certainly do thank the good sisters who have edified us with the presence of religious these days. (How wonderful for the girls to see a nun, “a real nun.” So rare!) I thank all of the ladies who contributed to the camp’s success, especially Sharon and Donna Patton. We averaged 44 girls each day this year, and began each morning with a Mass with beautiful music, very close to Heaven! Wonderful meals, treats and activities follow each other in quick succession, so there’s no possibility of boredom!

Thanks again to all who did something to make our “Twelve Days of Corpus Christi,” our “Christmas in July,” so beautiful with day after day of special Masses, adoration and Benediction from Corpus Christi through the Precious Blood, July 4. Unfortunately I fell ill towards the end, but Fr. Cekada and Fr. Larrabee continued everything perfectly. We may confidently expect many graces as a result of all of this prayer, such powerful prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

Remember your scapular in the summer – it’s such an aid to modesty, as well as the sign of your consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and a source of many graces. Remember the feast of the scapular this Saturday, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Remember, too, won’t you, our July Rosary Procession for Peace. The rosary works wonders. Pray it publicly for peace among Catholics, peace in families, peace in the world.

This Saturday looks to be a busy one for me. I will be visiting our daughter chapel, St. Gertrude the Great in Albuquerque for the Baptism of an adult, Confirmations and a Nuptial Mass. The chapel or morada has grown significantly since my last visit. Fr. Mardones recently offered Mass there, and Fr. Palma of Phoenix visits Albuquerque regularly.

Finally I wish to thank all of you, but especially the devoted members of the Rosary Confraternity for your good wishes, prayers, the fine little party, and generous gifts for my 35th priestly ordination anniversary. I was truly surprised, and am so touched at your kindness.

May Our Lady of the Precious Blood watch over all of her
priests and faithful.
