Pentecost X

The Bishop’s Note
Two cats down, one to go! One of our parishioners has graciously offered to treat the cats for fleas and such. Fat Cat has managed to hide himself pretty well thus far, but sooner or later we will catch him so that he can be taken care of. Poor fellow…he is always scratching and itching! Thank you, Mrs. Smith, for your kind assis-tance!

Fr. Brueggemann and his brothers finished the grotto in time for the Assumption, and Sisters Eulalia and Ulrica planted some flowers and laid mulch around the pond to add to its beauty. Now, we are waiting for someone to come in and switch on the power for the fountain. It is Wednesday as I write this, so we are hope-ful that this will be done in time for Our Lady’s great feast day.

It will be a quiet week here at St. Gertrude the Great. Fr. Simpson and I will be gone, as will the Sis-ters. Poncho has kindly volunteered to come and help in the sacristy while everyone is away. Oh, but there will still be plenty of Masses throughout the week, aside from Monday when there is only one. Don’t worry, we won’t let that happen too often in the future since most Masses are well attended on Monday.

This Saturday is the Sodality Meeting, don’t forget! Some of the men will also be coming to do some more tile work on the floor of the cloister. When it is all done it should look really great! We are all very excited to see it getting accomplished. Thank you to the men who are working so hard to make it happen! The Assumption Novena continues this week and ends on the feast of the Immaculate Heart. Bring your intentions to Our Lady—she never disappoints!
