The Bishop’s Note
We can get the cat report out of the way first, I think. The usual cats are all fine, but the black cat who came within the last few weeks and was with us ever since disappeared while I was away—cat box and all. Well, some things just sort of get arranged on their own. God’s Will be done.
The caterpillars that I told you about last week…do you remember? Sr. Ulrica had a Monarch caterpillar and Liam brought in some other kind of large green one. Well, the experiment turned out to be a little gruesome. The Monarch died in its chrysalis stage, the delicate stage just before turning into a butterfly. If you want to know what happened to the other caterpillars just ask Miss Mikesell or one of our students. It is too disturbing for a church bulletin. But as I mentioned last week, one of the best ways for children to learn about science is to actually see these types of things firsthand.
My visit to St. Hugh of Lincoln was a rather quiet one, but still a very nice one. It was good to see familiar faces, as well as many new ones. There were four Confirmations on Sunday. No pictures have surfaced yet, but perhaps next week we will have some for the bulletin. What a nice reception we had in the church basement afterwards! They always did know how to put on a good potluck! Today, Fr. McKenna is in Milwaukee for their church picnic.
We welcome Fr. Andrew Nowrouz, who came all the way from California to be our Rosary Sunday guest speaker. Father was ordained this past June and has been working with Fr. Zapp and Fr. Larrabee. Thank you, Father, for coming and for your edifying words!
We have the Catholic Mothers Consortium this Thursday evening. Thursday is a big day in the history of the Catholic Church. It marks the 67th anniversary of the death of Pope Pius XII, our last true Pontiff. 67 years have passed since we have had a pope! But what is 67 years to God? What is 67 years in the light of eternity? We must have confidence in God and submit humbly to what He has planned from all eternity. We know by Faith that God has not, nor will He ever, abandon His Church. God has promised this. Pray and offer sacrifice that God may one day grant us unworthy souls a true pope to guide us and to fix all the problems that we have been facing since Vatican II.
Be faithful to your Holy Rosary and say it each day. Come to October Devotions if you can. The Rosary is such a powerful prayer and one of the best ways to honor the Mother of God!
