Lent V – Passion Sunday

The Bishop’s Note
It is Passion Week. The statues are covered in violet since we are meant to meditate on Our Lord’s sufferings at this time. May it be a source of very efficacious graces for you.

A big thank you to Fr. McKenna, Fr. Lehtoranta and the other Fathers for taking care of things here at SGG while I was away. You probably know by now that Bishops Sanborn, Selway, Fliess, Nkamuke, and I met in Brooksville, Florida. Our meeting was a productive one and we left on very good terms. This is certainly the fruit of your prayers! We know that many, many of you have been wanting this to happen and have been praying fervently for it to take place. It goes to show that we just have to pray, and things will happen at the precise time that God has decided upon.

The biggest lesson in all this is that we can try to make things happen on our own, and we can think that they should happen at the time we have chosen and striven for. In the end, God is a good Father who has ordained all things sweetly. If we say our prayers, let God work, and stay out of His way, then things will fall into place if it is God’s Will. We just have to keep ourselves ready.

May you stay in the shadow of Our Lord’s Cross this week and remain close to Our Lady of Sorrows. There you will find everything you need.
