Bishop’s Note
It is just Thursday morning as these lines are being written and it is clear that Forty Hours is fast approaching. One can almost feel it in the air. Everyone is busy as a bee, as the saying goes. Theresa is doing a lot of the grocery shopping and prepping for the Chili Supper; the Sisters are preparing to decorate the sanctuary; the Fathers are getting their sermons and ceremonies ready; the Sunday choir and the school choir are gearing up for everything. So far, everyone is working calmly. We do have a good crew and each person sets a great ex-ample. I am very proud of them.
Congratulations to Quinn Kissell who was baptized and brought into the Catholic Church this past Tuesday. What a grace he has received from the good God! Events such as this are so very encouraging for the truly Catholic world. It was also very nice to meet his mother, who attended the baptism.
Last week’s Sodality meeting seemed to have gone well. The girls cooked meals for some mothers who recently had babies, and then polished some candle followers for the sacristy. Fr. Lehtoranta ensures the girls have a good time while also performing acts of charity.
Fr. McKenna said that the drive through Montana was beautiful and I think he said he stopped by his old stomping grounds in Idaho for an overnight. That is a pretty area of the country! He finally made it to Seattle and reports that the sleeping quarters are a little rough for now, but he is muscling through. He will do very well out in Seattle and we must remember to keep him in our prayers.
That is the news for the week, at least what I can recall. Forty Hours is one of the best times of the year. Although it is quite busy, it is such a prayerful time. If ever there was a time to ask Our Lord for graces it is during this time! The devil always tries to disturb us be-forehand by sending some sort of cross or another. This is a sign that Our Lord is about to give many graces. I hope you have made good use of these days and that you have spent some extra time with Our Eucharistic King. May God be glorified!
